WRITE A BOOK AND CREATE YOUR TURNING POINTS!!!
One of the ways to create your turning points for the better is to write yourself a book, have it published and then made it available worldwide.
Many people who had wanted or planned to write a book would eventually abandon their plans when they realise that it will not generate enough financial returns on their investment to justify writing it altogether in the first place. That's because most people think of returns only in terms of their book sales. The returns (financial and otherwise) you will get from writing your book do not only come in one form (ie. that of book sales) but also in the forms of business deals, a purchases of your product and service, opportunities to appear on radio stations, write-ups on a newspaper, invitations to appear on national television and all kinds of media coverage and publicity we don't expect!
My first book was written and published in 2013. I co-wrote it with my brother. It's a book about the pros and cons of migrating to Australia from two Malaysians' perspectives. That book sold more than two thousand copies. It was way beyond our expectations which was basically none.
It was featured on several online media, newspapers and two radio stations. Was our book really that good or newsworthy? Not really. I'm not trying to sound modest here. I know it for a fact. I really think our book really wasn't that good.
"But why the media coverage then?" you might ask.

First of all, the media is always in search of something new or different to write about. We happened to write a book with a topic that nobody had written about at that time. So, the media thought that it might be relevant to Malaysians who are interested in Australia as a migration destination.
Secondly, media always have a soft spot for books and their writers. Somehow, the general perception of the society is that if something is significant enough to be written into a book, then it must be important enough to be featured on the media. Also, if someone is capable of writing a book, he or she must be very knowledgeable. Of course that could not be further from the truth. I know myself better than anyone else. At least I should!
Whenever these write-ups appeared, we would receive some enquiries from strangers asking us some migration-and-Australia-related questions. When we told them we're not migration agents, some of them would even be disappointed. We merely wanted write a book to shed light on certain things that were seldom mentioned in our public discourse. We didn't have a business. Hence we did not write a book just so we can create more awareness for it. But if you have a business or a career to build, I strongly think you should write a book. Don't take my word for it, try it to know if I'm right or not.
Imagine what would it have done for us if we owned a migration agent business. Funny enough, we actually had one Malaysian-based migration agent inviting us to speak in one of their events. Another one wanted us to promote or 'endorse' their company! Since we had to work and attend to our family and wanted to maintain our 'integrity', we did not fly back just to do the talk. We did not promote the other migration agent also. Even if it was for integrity, we decided we that should only work with people who are really genuine and since we did not have the time to do the necessary due diligence, we just let it go.
But if you have a business, or you have a career to build, one of the most under-utilized strategies you can implement is book-writing and publishing. If done correctly, you will generate some very favourable publicity for you, your cause and your businesses. If you are already helping a lot of people with your movements, campaigns, products and services, imagine how many more people you can help if more people worldwide get to read your books?
