More is less. Less is more.

Lately, I have been working on a viable 'business' model for my book-writing coaching business.

If you want to write a book but don't know how to do it, I want to help you.

If you think you have a book in you but somehow have not been able to get it out, I want to help you.

If you want to write a book but doubt your ability to do so, I want to help.

You know that you have a book inside you but you don't believe that you're good enough to write it, I want to help.

To figure out how I can go about this business, I looked up other people/businesses doing somewhat similar thing (to what I have in mind) on the internet. Many of them are rightfully experts in this area because they themselves have written and published books that have sold rather well in the market. But something is not right. They made it sound so simple and simplistic! Some even claim that you can finish writing a book in 24 hours! And then they'll tell you that you will gain instant credibility in the market place. But in fact what they really meant was 'the illusion of having credibility'. Not real credibility at all.

So I 'struggled' a bit. I asked myself if I should also advertise like them. That's how you can get as many people as possible to sign up for your book-writing coaching courses. That's what I told myself. But later on, I felt this is somehow not the right thing to do. Do I want to have clients who are so simplistic in their thinking that only if they've written a book, they will then be viewed as an authority in the field that they have written?

The answer is NO. I want people who are realistic in their thinking. People who are genuinely interested to improve themselves. People who are willing to put in the hard work and to gain the personal learning experience in every step of their book writing journey.

I do not want clients who think that they can pay to have a book written for them. I don't want clients who think that once they have a book out, they will have instant recognition as the experts in the subject matter that they have written about.

That's when i realise that more is actually less. Less is actually more. You see, I was too obsessed with creating a business model that can attract many clients. It was only later today that I realised that I actually don't need to have very many clients at this stage yet!

At this stage, I need to help as many people write their books as possible. Ideally 100. When I hit one hundred, I will have the right mindset and enough knowledge and insight that are needed to create a viable 'business' model.

In fact, at this stage, that model should not be a business model per se. Keep it really simple. How me, a person, can help another person. Do that first. And then decide, 100 helps later, how to build a business model that can really work for me!
